Keynote Speakers:
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
We are very pleased to invite you to the IFABS 2019 Angers Conference, which will be hosted at ESSCA School of Management - Angers, France, on 27-29 June 2019. The International Finance and Banking Society (IFABS) Conferences aim to provide a forum for discussion and critical analysis of the major financial and banking challenges and networking amongst academics, policy-makers, research students and practitioners. Founded in 2008 in the United Kingdom, IFABS, with over 3,500 members from over 60 countries, is one of the world's leading organizations dedicated to the promotion of research in banking and finance. The Society is recognised for the top quality research meetings and conferences it organises throughout the world.
Banks are barely recovering from a major crisis, and are already facing multiple challenges that are forcing them to thoroughly review their working methods and reinvent themselves quickly. Low interest rates, and sometimes even negative interest rates are killing retail banking margins. The finance industry must compete with innovative services to retain their customers for whom switching banks or broker has never been easier. New risk assessment and reporting methods are to be invented to increase transparency, make markets more efficient and economies more resilient. Artificial intelligence is overturning existing methods of prospecting, marketing and risk assessment that have prevailed for decades. The rapid development of technology, access to a multitude of data, has allowed the emergence of Fintech categories that are not subject to the same rules as banks and accentuate disintermediation in the fields of insurance, payments, wealth management, equity financing, lending, and capital markets. As if that wasn't enough, the increasing climate variability and the gloomy long-term perspectives pose significant financial challenges for many investors, asset and risk managers, and financial institutions looking for innovative ways to finance the transition to a more sustainable world. This is a great window of opportunity for academics and practitioners to unite their ideas and efforts to reinvent many aspects of finance and serve better the economic, social and environmental needs of our societies.
