Dear Colleagues and Friends,

The International Finance and Banking Society (IFABS) Conferences aim to provide a forum for discussion and critical analysis of the major financial and banking challenges and networking amongst academics, policy-makers, research students and practitioners.

Founded in 2008 in the United Kingdom, IFABS, with over 3,500 members from over 60 countries, is one of the world's leading organizations dedicated to the promotion of research in banking and finance. The Society is recognised for the top quality research meetings and conferences it organises throughout the world.

Conference Theme

Financial innovations have been in the center stage during the last twenty years, as a result of dramatic development of technological innovation.

In China, internet finance and wealth management products in shadow banking sector have been providing important financing channels for Chinese companies and also major investment channels for Chinese investors. In U.S., mortgage securitization and high frequency algorithmic trading are two greatest innovations in the financial history.

While embracing the greatest financial innovations, the recent global financial crisis of 2007-2008 that wreaked havoc in the markets also produced a host of unpleasant effects that still linger today.  The stock market panic of 2015-2016 in the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges acts as a painful remainder of the ripples huge slumps in the markets can cause in other sectors.  Only sound risk management strategies and prudential policies can ensure financial innovations towards a stable and sustainable growth of financial systems and real economy.

The purpose of this conference is to bring together top finance researchers around the world to exchange new ideas of investigating the impact on financial innovations on traditional financial sector, which demands on new models and empirical findings in asset pricing, corporate finance, portfolio strategies,  risk management, and policy effects.

In addition to the papers directly related to the conference theme, the conference committee would like to invite submission of papers relating to all aspects of banking and finance. Both theoretical and empirical papers are encouraged in areas which include, but are not limited to:
